I am so damn happy today I can barely contain myself. A few weeks ago I sent Jodie and Marc Emery a letter asking if they would support the MERP Model for Marijuana Re-Legalization. Today Jodie and Marc Emery granted support to the MERP Model for Marijuana Re-Legalization with the following words:
Bruce Cain:
"With respect to the battle to end prohibition/the war on drugs, we support anything that sees fewer people go to jail or prison.
In regards to government control, we oppose it in every regard, but know that short of violent revolution there is no way to remove government control of people's lives at this time.
So our immediate goal is to support anything that reduces imprisonment of cannabis and drug users/producers/distributors. Our secondary goal is to prevent expanding government control over everyday life."
Jodie Emery (08/05/2009)
The MERP Model will most definitely prevent fewer people from going to jail or prison for consuming or cultivating Marijuana. In fact many people are unaware that both the Medical Marijuana Model and the various "Tax and Regulate" Models will not actually stop the arrest of Marijuana consumers and cultivators, In fact the number of arrests in Northern California, which was the first Medical Marijuana State, continues to climb. MERP, on the other hand will completely eliminate any additional people going to jail or prison as well as grant clemency to all non-violent Marijuana citizens currently in jail or prison.
Marc and Jodie have now joined the ranks of some of the smartest activists in the "drug reform movement" which now includes myself, John Sinclair, Krystle Cole and Ron Kiczenski. You can read more about these great activists at the following link:
Understand that MERP does not preclude commercial taxation but treats personal cultivation, of any amount as a sacred inalienable right. Obviously, this "self regulates" the market and evaporates much of the profit that would be realized through a "Government Marijuana Dispensary" program.
But MERP does 3 things that no "tax and regulate" model can never do:
* Destroys the Drug Cartels -- without ANY further waste of "blood or treasure" -- and keeps 27 billion in the US each year without any tax or regulation. * Provides free medicine to the sick and the poor. * Eliminates any excuse for police to break down your door searching for a "pot garden" that is a few plants too large.
I have been challenging NORML, DPA and MPP to find fault with the MERP Model for over 6 months now and all I can say is the silence has been deafening. Meanwhile some of the most articulate members of the activist community are signing on to the MERP Model.
But Marc Emery is set to be extradited to the United States in October 2009 so I don't want to focus any more on MERP at the moment. But I do hope that you will go to MERP Headquarters and learn more about MERP and how you can help to make it become a reality as early as 2009. Everything you would want to know about MERP will be found at this link:
Marc Emery and I go quite away back. In the late 1980's and early 1990's we were both publishers of magazines that both fought for the complete Re-Legalization of Marijuana. At the time he was running a little book store in London, Ontario and I was self publishing my magazine, "New Age Patriot," from my home in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. In those days our fledgling publications were known as "zines" and were reviewed by a magazine known as "Fact Sheet Five."
To his credit Marc began exploiting the sale of seeds in Canada because their were no laws against the intrastate sale of seed in Canada. This helped him greatly in both "growing" Cannabis Culture as well as pushing his agenda forward to "overgrow the government" by encouraging the self-cultivation of Marijuana be citizens throughout the globe.
I gave up the print edition of "New Age Patriot" in 1997, shortly after the first Medical Marijuana Initiative was passed in California: Proposition 215 passed by about 63% in November of 2006. Marc's publication far outgrew my "New Age Patriot" but has apparently found fledgling sales in the spring of 2009: a fate that is sweeping the entire print medium as many newspapers (e.g., the Detroit News and Free Press) cut their deliveries from 7 to 3 days per week.
Marc recently became the victim of a US government "sting operation" which uncovered the fact that some of these "seeds" were being sent to consumers and cultivators in the United States. This of course led to his arrest, conviction and pending extradition to the United States which could happen as early as October 2009.

In addition to this I would like to request that you do the following two things to end this stupid war on Marijuana "once and forever:"
Call President Obama and your Representatives and demand:
(1) Immediate clemency for Marc Emery and
(2) Immediate implementation of the MERP Model through an Emergency Session of Congress, similar to what was used to pass the TARP Bailout on October 3rd, 2008 President:
U.S. Senate switchboard: 202-224-3121 U.S. House switchboard: (202) 225-3121 The President: Comments: 202-456-1111. Switchboard: 202-456-1414
Instruct them to go to www.newagecitizen.com and then click on the "MERP" link to get more information on the MERP Model. Then finally instruct them to send you a letter stating their support or opposition to the MERP Model. And finally, make clear that unless they release Marc Emery and implement the MERP Model immediately, they will not get your vote in 2010.
This is how we can end the War on Marc and Marijuana without the need for any further violence on the part of the Mexican Drug Cartels or the Re-Legalization Activist Community.
Do your part. Call the President and your Representatives today and every week from this point forward. "Yes We Can" have Legal, Untaxed, Unregulated Personal Cultivation by all Adult Citizens of the United States and the Planet.
Yours in Peace and Freedom,
Bruce W. Cain
PS:
I also encourage members of MPP, DPA and NORML to do the right thing and start supporting and promoting the MERP Model instead of this useless "Tax and Regulate" model. If you go to any of their conferences in the upcoming months demand that they begin supporting MERP immediately or you will withdraw all of your support for their organizations. The change we are waiting for is could be mere months away if we would all simply demand that MERP is implemented through a special session of Congress: very similar to how they screwed us last October with the TARP Bailout. And Obama is screwing us both by refusing to support MERP and by signing the TARP Bailout and subsequent bailouts which do NOTHING for Main Street while bailing out the criminals on Wall Street.

Jodie and Marc Support MERP Re: Will Jodie and Marc Support MERP? Date: Aug 05, 2009
With respect to the battle to end prohibition/the war on drugs, we support anything that sees fewer people go to jail or prison.
In regards to government control, we oppose it in every regard, but know that short of violent revolution there is no way to remove government control of people's lives at this time.
So our immediate goal is to support anything that reduces imprisonment of cannabis and drug users/producers/distributors. Our secondary goal is to prevent expanding government control over everyday life.
Keep up the great work!

Jodie:
I respect your pragmatism and will include you and Marc as supporters -- but will use your exact words so people are not confused.
Here is the problem I am having lately.
(1) When you say "but know that short of violent revolution there is no way to remove government control of people's lives at this time" I am reminded of an old psych experiment.
Fish are put into a rectangular fish tank and a clear glass pane of glass is placed in the middle of the tank, preventing the two groups of fish from traveling to the opposite side of the tank. After some period of time the glass is removed, yet the fish still assume that the pane of glass is their -- and both groups stay on their respective sides of the tank.
I suppose what I am saying here is that "sometimes" we become prisoners of our own minds. That was part of the message my friend Jack Herer was getting at by calling his legalization tome "The Emperor Wears No Cloths." Sometimes it just takes the eyes of a child to see through the hypocrisy.
(2) None of the major moneyed organizations (DPA, MPP or NORML) will touch the MERP model with a "10 foot pole." And the AZ initiative, which is currently mobilizing, is the first Medical Marijuana Initiative to eliminate personal cultivation by changing the language such that you have to be more than 25 miles from a dispensary to be able to grow your own Marijuana. This is an obvious "bait and switch." Soros controls MPP which is behind the AZ initiative. The ramifications are obvious: MPP and Soros out to stop personal cultivation.
I'm just wondering if you and Marc could do 2 things for me:
(1) Start giving voice to the MERP Model on your website. Understand that MERP does not preclude commercial taxation but treats personal cultivation, of any amount (Kasinsky suggested removing the 100 plant limit), as a sacred inalienable right. Obviously, this self regulates the market and evaporates much of the profit that would be realized through a "Government Marijuana Dispensary" program. But MERP does 3 things that a "tax and regulate" model can never do:
* Destroy the Drug Cartels and keep 27 billion in the US each year without any tax or regulation. * Provide free medicine to the sick and the poor. * Eliminate any excuse for police to break down your door searching for a "pot garden" that is a few plants too large.
(2) Revise a statement in support of MERP, from both you and Marc, to resemble something more like Krystle Coles statement:
"I'd prefer the MERP Plan to get passed because then we can all grow it. I think it is our inalienable right to grow Marijuana and use it if we want to. And I don't think we should have to pay taxes for it." http://www.newagecitizen.com/MERP/MERP_Support_Status.htm
And if you two could have your way, wouldn't you be in agreement with Krystle and I?
At any rate I thank you for your responce and am hoping for further communication. I am always available for phone interviews etc. to discuss MERP. Also see the link above to see that John Sinclair and Ron Kasinsky also support MERP.
Lastly, Marc and I go quite away back. We were both publishing magazines on Marijuana in the early '90s. My publication was "New Age Citizen" and I actually started the first Internation Drug Policy event: International Drug Policy Day" which predated the MMM of Dana Beal and whoever else has now co-oped the event.
Everything you would like to know about MERP can be found here:
Best of luck in an early release for Marc. I would recommend of strategy of pressuring Obama to simply grant clemency. That could be accomplished with a mere swipe of the pen and the support would be emmence. Obama can ill afford any more negative press right now. Something to think about and something I would support.
The sad thing that I see today is that we really do have the power to derail the Globalist Agenda, of which prohibition plays a major part. But as every good Gnostic (e.g., searcher for Knowledge, or Gnosis) knows: it is not sufficient to merely attain the knowledge. To affect change you have to actually utilize that knowledge.
Yours in Peace and Freedom,
Bruce W. Cain

This video below is a live thing I did a few weeks before the 2008 election. I love getting in front of my supporters.

A majority of Americans, in a poll released Wednesday, say it "makes sense to tax and regulate" marijuana. The Zogby poll, commissioned by the conservative-leaning O'Leary Report, surveyed 3,937 voters and found 52 percent in favor of legalization. Only 37 percent opposed.
A previous ABC News/Washington Post poll found 46 percent in support. In California, a Field Poll found 56 percent backing legalization.
Responding to the poll at a press conference Tuesday, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called for an open debate on legalization.
Voters were asked: "Scarce law enforcement and prison resources, a desire to neutralize drug cartels and the need for new sources of revenue have resurrected the topic of legalizing marijuana. Proponents say it makes sense to tax and regulate the drug while opponents say that legalization would lead marijuana users to use other illegal drugs. Would you favor or oppose the government's effort to legalize marijuana?"

This is my reply to this latest bit of propaganda from NORML and MPP.
Marijuana is Safe: So Why Tax and Regulate it? [Report this comment] [Ignore this user] Posted by: bcainw on Aug 6, 2009 7:37 AM Current rating: Not yet rated [1 = poor; 5 = excellent]
Two of the three authors are from MPP and NORML: groups that will only discuss the option of "taxing and regulating" Marijuana under what I have called a "Government Marijuana Dispensary" program. After the "shakeout" occurs what you are going to see is your government become your new Marijuana Drug Dealer: the same government that has busted over 20 million Americans over the last 20 years because they deemed Marijuana too dangerous.
So why won't they discuss an option where adults (over 18) can simply grow their Marijuana without any "taxation or regulation?"
Such a model already exists in Bruce Cain's "MERP" Model. But NORML, DPA and MPP won't even discuss it with their members. Why is that?
You can read much more about MERP and why it makes much more sense that the crap these guy are dishing out. If you go to one of their conferences please get the word out on MERP. They won't. And that is sad because only MERP will destroy the Mexican Drug Cartels, provide free medicine to the sick and stop the "pigs" (e.g., policeman that bust Americans for mere possession) from breaking down your door looking for that evasive "pot garden."
We should all have a "pot garden."
